Strong Interest Inventory

The Strong Interest Inventory (SII) is an assessment for those who seek career direction, especially a path for their career. Alumni who may be interested in this assessment are those considering a career transition or those who are curious about what types of occupations best fit their personality.

Taking the Inventory

The 291-item SII assessment compiles your interest patterns and compares them to satisfied professionals in various occupations. The online assessment will take 25-30 minutes to complete.

Getting Your Results

The results are formatted as a report. After completing the assessment, you will schedule an in-person or telephone appointment to discuss the results with Director of Alumni Career Services Andrew Hart. You will learn which areas interest you the most and how they relate to different careers. The interpretation can last anywhere from 40-50 minutes. The report you receive covers six sections:

  • General Occupational Themes (GOT)
  • Basic Interest Scales (BIS)
  • Occupational Scales (OS)
  • Personal Styles Scales (PSS)
  • Profile Summary
  • Response Summary

$20 — includes the online assessment and an interpretation of the results with Andrew Hart, director of Alumni Career Services.

The UT Board of Trustees has approved a budget that holds tuition increases to historic lows across all UT undergraduate campuses. The 1.8 percent increase marks the third consecutive year of tuition increases of 3 percent or lower, a track record that is unprecedented in the history of the University of Tennessee system. Trustees also approved historically low fee increases at all campuses.
