Looking Good

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

The University has a new name and a new look.

After several decades as the UT National Alumni Association, the organization has dropped the “national” in deference to the many alumni who live abroad.

The new name will make it clear that alumni outside the United States are members, says Executive Director Lofton Stuart (Knoxville ’71). An amendment to the association’s constitution will be proposed to reflect the change. The UTAA also introduced a new logo that incorporates the new name and mirrors the university’s graphic symbol.

“The university recently went through a rebranding, and now the alumni association is adopting the same graphic approach using the stylized UT,” says Stuart. We think our new brand is more identifiable than our old symbol, and we think it’s only right to build on and complement the university’s brand identity.”

The new symbol will appear on merchandise and other alumni association items.

The UTAA is a 300,000+ member organization that includes graduates and former students of all UT campuses.
