Chapter Board of Directors


Each UTAA Chapter should form a Board of Directors to oversee the leadership and business of the chapter. The Board of Directors is to follow the by-laws set forth for the chapter and serve the mission of the University of Tennessee. Below is a listing of the roles of each of the executive members of the Board of Directors and committees.

President

The President performs duties such as usually pertain to the office of President and as provided in the Constitution and Bylaws. The President shall preside at all meetings of the chapter and shall be chairman of the Directors and ex-officio member of every committee.

President- Elect/Vice President

The President-Elect shall work closely with the President and shall perform certain duties of the President at his request. The President-Elect shall be an ex-officio member of every committee and shall automatically become President for the next succeeding year.

In the absence or disability of the President, or at his request, the President-Elect shall perform the duties of the President. If the office of the President becomes vacant he shall become President for the unexpired term.

Secretary

The Secretary shall keep minutes of all meetings for the chapter and the Board of Directors, arrange for notices of all meetings, and maintain official custody of the list of alumni within the chapter area. The list should not be released for political or commercial purposes.

Treasurer

The Treasurer shall supervise all receipts and expenditures and shall be in charge of financial arrangements for all meetings, programs, and events. He/she shall be an ex-officio member of all committees.

Committees

Chapters may form committees for specific purposes or events that may include members-at-large of the Board of Directors or volunteers from the alumni constituency in their area.
