The governing/advisory body of the Association is the Board of Governors. This board is led be the President of the UTAA and consists of 78 members. Positions on the board are carefully designed so that each campus is represented, each of Tennessee’s nine geographic districts is represented, and alumni residing out of state are represented.
Thirty-six of the board members are elected, and serve three-year terms. These terms are staggered so that one-third of the elected positions is voted upon each year. All active alumni chapters may nominate one or more candidates during the election process, and all alumni who are active contributors then vote for candidates who have been nominated.
The remaining 42 board members are either appointed by the campuses, the president of the UTAA, or serve on the board based upon the university-related positions they hold. Here you will find a completing listing of officers and board members for the 2008-09 year.
